   The San Juan, Animas, and La Plata Rivers flow from Colorado through San Juan County, New Mexico, and serve an estimated population of 124,166 in the cities of Aztec, Bloomfield, Farmington and the unincorporated rural areas of San Juan County.

   The Aztec Ditch is a community ditch which obtains water from the Las Animas River with two diversion priority dates.  The Aztec Ditch Company currently serves over 400 people.

   The original priority has a priority date of 1882, priority No. 4, with a maximum rate of diversion at the intake of 28.24 cubic feet per second of time for irrigation purposes.

   The Extension has a priority date of 1903, priority No. 13, with a maximum rate of diversion at the intake of 6.33 cubic feet per second of time for irrigation purposes.

   The total amount of irrigated acres under the system is:
